Turn archived workflow ideas into a review queue

Bring historical Reddit search into a scheduled review queue. Try the workflow query, map flat records locally, and set a clear request budget.

Give the scheduled job a useful destination

Your automation team needs examples to inspect, not another folder of unexplained responses. Start with a small queue of archived discussions about workflow design in r/automation. A scheduled job can retrieve a bounded batch, attach the search conditions to it, and leave the useful records for a person to review. The schedule and queue belong to your application; API Reddit CC supplies historical search results.

This is an independent Reddit archive, with no official affiliation or live feed. Repeating a search tomorrow does not mean you are collecting tomorrow’s posts. Choose this recipe when historical examples can inform a design discussion, and keep the limits of that evidence visible beside the records you save.

Begin with three records about workflow

The home example sends GET https://api.apireddit.cc/v1/search?q=workflow&subreddit=automation&limit=3. Here, q asks for the word workflow, subreddit narrows the community, and limit caps the returned batch at three records. Three is a convenient first inspection size, not a promise that three matches exist. A successful empty response is a result your job must handle.

Look at the returned text before expanding the query. Does it describe a process your team could learn from, or does workflow appear in an unrelated context? Keep that relevance decision in your own review step. The API does not supply a verdict about whether a proposed automation is useful, safe, or suitable for your environment.

Map the result to the next action

Responses contain flat records. Your code can carry the available id, kind, title and text into a local review item, together with a run identifier that you create. Distinguish a post from a comment, and allow absent fields instead of manufacturing a title or filling gaps with guesses.

If parent_id or link_id is present, local grouping can help a reviewer see possible relationships. It does not reconstruct a guaranteed complete conversation. Keep an item’s source identity separate from your own review status, so rerunning the query need not create another task for a record you already handled.

Choose how much work one run may do

Retrieval supports at most 100 records per request and 100 pages per query. Results follow archive document order, not chronological, relevance or score order. A larger limit or another page changes the batch you inspect; neither proves complete coverage. Decide a page allowance and a stopping rule before enabling the schedule.

Each successful retrieval, including an empty response, costs one credit: $1 per 1000 requests. A $50 minimum top-up buys 50000 paid credits; paid credits do not expire. The key page explains access and conditional trial credits. Use the guide to design the run ledger and retry decisions, then consult the documentation for the full parameter reference.
